Composite Fillings in Belleville NJ
One of the most common dental treatments that patients of all ages receive is a filling. When treating a cavity, Dr. Flynn-Nyktas will remove the decayed portion of your tooth and fill it with a filling, a protective substance to restore the previously damaged tooth and bring it back to full health. There are several filling materials available on the market, but we exclusively use composites, as they are durable, aesthetic, and most importantly: mercury-free!
Composite fillings can be made to match your natural tooth color and require less removal of tooth structure than amalgam.
What can a composite filling be used for?
• Fixing a cavity or otherwise decayed tooth
• Correcting any chips or breaks on your teeth
• Decreasing or eliminating the gaps between your teeth
How It’s Done
Your Belleville NJ general dentist will numb the area that the filling is going to be placed in order to remove the decayed portion of the tooth without hurting you or causing any pain. The filling substance is applied to help open up the pores of your teeth so the bonding can be stronger before being hardened and cured with a special light. After this is done, the filling is applied in thin layers to slowly form completely. After it has hardened, we will make it smooth and polish it so it’s comfortable for you and your bite.
